Running of the Bulls

Every year we hear all of the horrible terrifying news from the annual Running of the Bulls, and it seems to be that time of the year once again.  I have never really understood why this annual event even takes place considering the fatalities and injuries that occur each and every year! And for this to take place in the middle of July when the heat is at it’s worst, beats me.

Thought I would share the video clip link below, for your viewing entertainment!

Dad’s 75th birthday present is in the bag this year

Nikon Monarch Binoculars are on the top of my Dad’s wish list for his up and coming 75th birthday and by God that is what I am going to purchase for him. There is a huge birthday bash being planned by the family and long time friends for this momentous occasion, in celebration of him making it 75 years on this earth and my Mom will be right there with him partying on!

Nikon has had my Dad’s business for years for so many things that he has needed through out all of these years and a nice set of these binoculars that are 100% Waterproof, Fog proof, Shockproof and are made of a ultra-rugged, rubber-armored, roof-prism design, that he has always heard and read about and I think that it is about time that he gets a pair. He and my mother are avid bird watchers and are always looking for a good pair of binoculars that will allow them to gaze at all of the beautiful birds that they have attracted to their front, side and backyards over the years.

The lost art of hand blown glass

Hand Blown Glass Art is something that both the wife and I enjoy. In fact I used to know a guy that did this lost art form and purchased several beautiful pieces that he had for sale, years ago when I ran across him at the flea market unsuspectingly. He was setting up there for a few months and then he was up and gone again and who knows when we will run into him again. I would really like to continue buying pieces from him to add to the ones that we have sitting on display in the living room that we get so much enjoyment from and love showing off to people that come by for a visit. His pieces are that beautiful.

The wife ran across a web-site of handblownglass.net last night and called me into the room so that I could take a look at the pieces of hand blown glass that they have for sale. If you have any respect for this glass blowing field you really should go to their site and take a look, these pieces are truly amazing and are decently priced and guaranteed to arrive in one piece or you get your money back 100%.

Take a look at this wonderful piece that the wife was drooling over and was saddened to find was already sold.

glass

HandBlownGlass.net is an online art gallery dedicated to Hand Blown Glass that features top glass blowing artists. Each piece is individually made and is one of a kind. Each piece is signed by the artist and comes with a certificate of authenticity from the studio.

So if I don’t run into my old bud again in the near future, at least I know that I can go to the Internet and find some really nice pieces that I will keep in mind for future gifts for the wife, you know like for Christmas, birthday and anniversary gifts that keep coming back year after year after year.

Vacation Time Coming Soon

Wife is wanting a real vacation, she has her heart set on a cruise of some kind and perhaps even having a place rented and ready for us at whatever destination we finally decide upon. So some friends heard we we’re thinking about getting away for a weekend or more and told us about an Internet site called Destin vacation rentals, or something along those lines. So later that evening I sat down at the computer and typed in, “vacation rentals”, and began a little research of my own. What I found was that one of the magazines we get is relevant to my research because it covers the subjects of travel and leisure, and they recommend an online rental company by the name of Rentalo.com and I found them at Breckenridge lodging.  Another site also of the same company I found at the following, Siesta Key hotels.

These sites are simply amazing for ease of use and the number of locations they represent. I mean all you have to do is type in where you want to go and they will show how many available units are in that area. If you want to plan a vacation around, say, like a sporting activity or fishing, (or even romancing your significant other for instance), type that in and they can offer suggestions as to what is out there. And any discounts or special offers and things of that nature. Well I showed the wife, and now she’s contemplating a whole new scenario on this dream vacation of hers, oops, I mean Ours! By and by I’d say this has been the best yet of any of the places we’ve researched or could locate on vacation services. After the wife got on and could actually see the places online where we could go, by zooming in on the aerial overview the links provide and even locate everything in the area you may want to visit, and how one would be able to travel and how the terrain and all that sort of stuff that women just need to know beforehand that most of us married guys just take in stride, she was impressed beyond measure. Said she has found the answer to her questions and I mean ALL her questions, in relation to taking some time off. I just love it when she gets relaxed with that “no-worries” look on her face!

Fireworks

The wife and I were out and about today and we passed several the the firework stands that are popping up all over the place, so after our last stop of the day we decided to go ahead and pull in to the next one that we saw.

I’m glad that we pulled in to the one that we did because it ended up that we knew the guy behind the counter and he gave us a pretty good deal. I like it when that happens. We still ended up spending more than we should have so the guy still made out on the deal, I’m sure.
