Chat Success for Benjamin

Wanted to do something fun last night instead of sitting around the house bored. But I couldn’t find anyone who didn’t already have plans to go catch a movie with me. Even my friend Benjamin had plans - a date with someone new. He was very mysterious about the date and I thought he might even be lying!

But when pressed, he admitted that she is someone he met on a chat for Jewish singles and this was their first date. His family is very religious and meeting Jewish Women is important to him but it can be a challenge locally. Turns out he has been talking to her online for a couple of weeks and finally made plans to meet up in person.

I think that’s really cool and hope she deserves a great guy like Ben.

Legally Speaking

Some friends of mine have a radio show that goes on the air live every Saturday night. The show is a panel of lawyers who take questions from listeners on legal issues and the lawyers give information to help the caller resolve the issue.

The show is on WLAC 1510 AM and the primary lawyer is Ed Fowlkes who specializes in criminal defense work. He is the go to guy for DUIs and any kind of traffic problem. He also does other types of cases, usually in County and State courts.

The other lawyers on the panel seem to rotate as to who is available. Sometimes there are two other lawyers, sometimes three, and sometimes they have guests on the show, like other lawyers and even judges. Their specialties include bankruptcy, constitutional law, real estate, and domestic cases.

It’s an interesting show and you can learn a lot about legal issues if you listen every week.

Will Work for Gas

With the price of gas hovering around $4.00 per gallon I am starting to think that I need to get a credit card just for my gasoline purchases. It would be especially helpful if I could use a card that gives me cash back or rebates on the gas.

My friend Thomas told me about a credit card directory called CARDHUB that he used to find the right credit card for his family. The directory has links to all the major credit cards and lets you search for the terms that you want or filter out cards that won’t meet your needs.

I decided to give the Card Hub site a try and see if there are cards that give rebates on gas. Sure enough, there were seven cards from which to choose. I liked the way you could compare those seven against each other for terms and rates, and then apply directly from links on that site. I’m glad Thomas shared this info with me.

Short Week

Can’t believe that this week has flown by. It was short anyway, with the trip back from California on Tuesday. I was lucky to get back on on of the last direct flights that Southwest Airlines is offering on that route. It is one of their longest non stop flights and for some reason they have decided to cut it.

That means that the next time I go out there I will have to change planes in Las Vegas and lose at least an hour - more likely 2 hours - for the plane changing process. I learned a long time ago not to cut the plane changing times too close. You have to allow for some flight delays on the first leg so that you don’t miss the connecting flight. You especially don’t want to miss the connecting flight if that is the last one out for the evening. Sleeping in an airport waiting for the red eye is not fun.
