Blogs can be interesting reads

California Criminal Defense Blog | Los Angeles Criminal Defense Attorneys has turned out to be quite an interesting read that I stumbled across late last night, which was about Former Prosecutors that specialize in criminal defense in Southern California Courts. I was having a really rough time of falling asleep last night, so after watching the television for a bit and deciding that there really isn’t much of anything worth watching in the middle of the night, even with cable for heaven’s sake. So I figured I’d go out to the PC and find something interesting to read in an effort to tire my eyes out enough to fall asleep.

I never really paid much attention to other peoples or businesses/companies blogs in the past, other than folks that I know that have a blog that I read once in a while just to catch up on what is going on in their lives. It really is a convenient tool which makes it possible to keep an eye on the people that you know or related to that you care about, but don’t take the opportunity, for what ever reason, to communicate with, like with email or snail mail or even the phone. I remember the first blog that I ever read was several years ago when my sister told me about her blog and begged me to read it, which was really interesting and opened up a whole new world for me as it turns out.

So it looks like I’ll be taking a closer look at some of the blogs that I see on some of web-sites that I visit along the way and not just friends and relatives blogs.

No this isn’t a picture of me, it is of one of the attorney’s of the firm by the name of Kestenbaum, Eisner & Gorin, LLP. This picture is what caught my attention on this firms web-site, he looks so much like a guy that I worked with years ago when we lived in California, but it isn’t the same guy as it turns out, but does have a good blog for reading!

Guns…to own or not to own?

It’s about time the Supreme Court saw the illegality of D.C.’s thirty year old gun ban. I mean really, how long should the obvious take to infiltrate the mind anyway? Crime in the District of Columbia has been steadily on the rise ever since they first banned guns within the city limits. And they went all out to confiscate any weapons the general public might have had too. Only thing is, they did little to nothing to remove the threat of violence from the source itself, the criminal element! I seem to remember one of my friends remarking on how now that the guns are out of the hands of citizens, there is going to be one helluva crime wave for some time to come. Appears that he was correct. Now I’m not sure if the reversal is going to be to little to late or not but at least there is a glimmer of hope for those who dwell within the city limits, that they can finally defend themselves against the criminal element that is running rampant in the city.

Golfing

My brother-in-law is a fairly good golfer, quite a bit better at it then I am, but I do love to play on occasion as it sure does relax me and I always have a good time when I’m out on a course. A couple of us have been thinking about going to Las Vegas and have decided that since we were going to be there anyway perhaps we could get in a few rounds of Las Vegas golf. So we decided to look up what kind of Affordable golf packages we might be qualified for. I must admit we were a bit out of luck until my buddy found this website that gave us the information we needed to make reservations directly with the golf course of our choosing, and they even have the golf pros that can aid you should you need one, (personally, I need one because my long game is a bit shoddy to say the least). Anyway this site allows you to book on-line at just about every golf course I’ve ever heard of anyone wanting to play a round or two at. You can book a room, set up a tee-off time, maybe an appointment with a golf-pro to help you out a little on your swing or something, and as you’re dealing directly with the course people themselves. No middleman, in other words, a lot less money you need to dish out! Man you can even make your own style of a Golf Package Vacation! And the site shows you photos of the courses with detailed course information as well. Plus they show you what is available along the lines of nearby accommodations, with photos and availability by date information. I’m telling you, if you want to play golf, you’ve got to check this site out for sure.

Pepperidge Farms is the best

The wife just me in a nice piece of Lemon 3-Layer cake by Pepperidge Farms, they are our favorite cakes to get at the grocery store. The favorite flavor is the Cocconut 3-Layered one, it disapears quickly in our house. I always like mine ala mode with a nice glass of cold milk!

CDEarth.com

There is a company by the name of CDEarth that really has a good selection of software that I have had a good experience with in the past. Right now I find that they have an offer of choosing a FREE Software CD with a test-drive of CD Earth Software Library Club which is something that I have been contemplating on joining. With the whole family each using their own PC in their respective bedrooms, we go through a lot of software. The wife and I have both looked at their selection numerous times in the past and both have enjoyed previous purchases so we know the kind of service to expect, which has always been good, by the way.

It was funny today, I had the task of taking our youngest and her best friend to the library today to drop off and pick up more books. She has finally found a book series that she enjoys enough to actually read, she has never liked reading before, so the wife and I are thrilled that at last something has caught her attention. Anyway, it is a gorgeous library and I always am in awe when I go there, they renovated it just recently and have done a marvelous job and it makes it a pleasure to enter. As we were walking in I told the girls that in my day we didn’t have the Internet, so that we spent a lot of time in the local library growing up looking for books in an effort to find something to help with your homework and to study of course. I can’t imagine what live would have been like if we had had the Internet to assist with our education like they have now, I guess we will never know will we.

The Internet really has made everything right at the tips of your fingers, my kids use their PCs consistently for homework and of course playing games are a plus. This web-site which by the way is www.CDEarth.com and it really has a good selection of games and educational software that I’m sure we will be looking at closer.

Here is a copy of their latest Press Release, which is full of information.
