Movie Time

The wife wants us to take the kids to the movies some time at the end of the week, since school is out and none of the camps that they all have been signed up for will start for another 3 or 4 weeks they are getting a bit restless all ready. School has been out for only 1 1/2 weeks and the natives are restless, imagine that.

I’m told that it is either the movies or a day at the local pool, I choose the movies, so I guess I better find out what is playing that will entertain the entire family for a few hours. I’m choosing a matinee, they are a whole lot cheaper when you have this many people to pay for and of course they all want popcorn and candy which in turn makes them all thirsty for the soda pop that they charge an arm and a leg for.

Nice quality furniture for the house

The wife has been shopping around for new furniture and is enjoying the Internets way of making this one whole heck of a lot easier than going from store to store and looking at the sales ads that you await to arrive in the week-end newspaper. She knows that I hate shopping and going to the mall and all that kind of stuff, so using the Internet brings it all right to me at my own house, how easy is that.

The first thing that she wanted to start on was the living room furniture and while looking for something that caught her eye for that room, she ran across a very nice bedroom furniture set on a nice web-site that sells some really fine furniture and offers free shipping, which is a major savings when you think of how heavy furniture can be.

The web-site is so richly colored, as is their furniture, which is what we like, they even have a contemporary desk that looks contemporary but still has that nice rich brown and earth tones in it like we like in our house, it is really a nice mixture of looks.

Their bedroom furniture has some nice selections that I would enjoy having in our master bedroom, they have lots of sleigh beds that the wife and I have always wanted to own, one in particular caught both of our eyes. Their prices are pretty good, but we would still have to save up for a complete setting that would look right.

I like the fact that this company gives you the opportunity to speak with a customer service rep right on their site, during normal business hours of course, that is always a plus when dealing with an on-line order.

Bad weed-eater

Just got back from the store with the wife, we’d taken back the weed-eater, AGAIN! This is the third time we’ve bought a weed-eater that we’ve had to exchange. They say the third time is a charm. Well we have a brand new, never been opened weed-eater that had better work or I am going to have what my wife refers to as a “hissy fit”!

I swear I’ve never had so much trouble trying to obtain a piece of yard equipment that actually works. It’s a little late today to try it out so I’m going to wait until tomorrow to actually take it out of the box, fill it with the proper gas mixture, and fire it up so I can finally clear the rear drive. I have my fingers crossed and you better believe I’ll be back ranting and raving if this one turns out to be a dud as well.

Rematch of the Year

Looks like we may have a rematch with De La Hoya and Money Mayweather that could redefine the face of the championship, again. I gave the last fight between the two to La Hoya, but a split decision favored Mayweather thus subjecting us all to another round of “Mayweather madness”, and personally, I don’t like the little “Funny Money” Mayweather. I find him abrasive, lacking class and full of himself. For his weight class however, he is rather a talented fighter with very quick hands. I’ll give him that. De La Hoya, on the other hand, is humble and respectful of others as well as extremely talented in the ring. Which brings me to a slight dilemma. Where am I ever going to round up a pair of Mayweather/De La Hoya tickets ?

September is coming up awful fast and the promoters still haven’t confirmed a site for the match. Seems that there are several places that are jockeying for the spot. On top at the moment is the Home Depot Center, home of the Los Angeles Galaxy soccer team. MGM Grand in Las Vegas would like to hold it there, especially after the first fight breaking all box office records, gate and pay per view included. De La Hoya once made a comment about wanting to fight in Dodger Stadium before he retired so now Dodger Stadium has expressed an interest in their having the rematch of the year there. I’m going to have to keep on top of it all in order to get the tickets to the fight because once they lock in a site and a date, (of which it looks like it could happen as early as September if we’re lucky), any available tickets could sell out pretty fast. I’m thinking I may see about “reserving” tickets, I’m not sure they do that sort of thing, but if I pay in advance…well, one just never knows anymore.
