I have one brother-in-law who has moved his family at the beginning of this year, to the outskirts of Tampa, Florida, and has just sent an email to us letting us know that he has finally landed a position with a company primarily out of California, but they have one there in Tampa also. The company is American Home Craft and he sounds excited about it, so good to hear the good news.

His wife found employment immediately but it has taken him a bit longer than he expected, and they initially thought that it would be the other way around. He tells us that the kids took real well to their new school, they’ve made plenty of friends and that their school system let the kids out for the year back in May. Our kids here in Virginia just went to their last day of school which was today, mid June, May sounds so early.

The Internet, it seems, assisted him with his search for employment at this company, he sent me the link to their web-site of www.ahcionline.com and the wife and I took a look around the place and it looks like they do some awesome work there. I’m impressed with the way that they have taken the environment in consideration, using the processes that they do to produce their products, they significantly reduce energy consumption, he tells me that that was one reason he was so impressed with this company, I agree that it is a good thing these days.

I hope that it works out well and that they are happy and stay happy in their new home town.

We finally say goodbye to the heatwave that has been making life very rough for the past week. We had a whole day of rain yesterday, in the afternoon a thunder and lightening storm came and went, thought we were going to lose power there a few times, glad that we didn’t, the whole family would be in an uproar if that were to happen!

The gardens sure enjoyed all of the rain, unfortunatley a lot of basements got flooded I hear!

When we hear, usually through our teenage daughter, that someone is leaving we fix up a little bundle of goodies to give to them to take with them. Writing paper, envelopes, stamps, post-its, pens and pencils, stuff that like that and of course a card with our street address and phone numbers, along with all of the email addresses being exchanged also. We have also learned that a few calling cards are so very appreciated, so we always try and put as many as we can afford to in an envelope to go along with the other items.

Things are so much easier using the Internet, I’m finding. Our last friend that enlisted in the Marines is heading out to Botswana in August and I know the wife has already taken the time to get his box of goodies together and has asked me to take care of the calling cards for him and it will be complete and ready to go with him.

We are very fortunate to be able to say that so far every person that has left to go fight in this desert war has come back, and each one with no bodily injuries, that doesn’t mean that their heads won’t be screwed up for the rest of their entire lives, who knows.
