Helping out at the Yard Sale

My California bound buddy is trying desperately to get rid of as much as he can of his belongings that are not going to be taken along. He is giving stuff away left and right and is planning a huge yard sale and has asked me to help him with the pain staking process involved with having a yard sale. You know, all of the sorting and boxing and pricing and tagging and all of the other physical demanding tasks of setting things up. And what is left over he plans on taking to the local flea market to sell off as much as he can to lessen the load. I’m sure that I’ll be taking a good amount of stuff off of his hands, I’ve got my eye on a few things and the wife has expressed interest in a few things herself it he can’t seem to sell them.

Traffic & Parking Problems

I swear, the traffic pattern down by the grocery entrance should be scrapped entirely and a safer traffic control lane put in place. I mean, really! By adding a safety bollard or two where the lanes merge right after you turn into the side road leading to the parking lot, you could eliminate the hazards of vehicle collisions drastically. Not only that, they are always using that lot for those traveling carnivals and there is definitely a real need for some form of access control. And those removable and collapsible bollards would be the perfect solution to a growing problem. The Traffic Guard Direct Company has the best choices I’ve been able to find anywhere. I’d think the local board in charge would appreciate the input on the solutions to the traffic and parking problem brought about several times a year at this location. Personally I’d suggest the telescoping round posts, that, when not in use, can just disappear into a ground sleeve complete with protective lid that lays flush with the pavement..

Buddy is west bound

A buddy of mine has decided to head back west to California, he says that he has had enough of the east coast life and has been yearning to for sometime to go back to San Diego where he swears the weather is the best in the whole U.S. of A., I’ll give him no argument there, San Diego has always provided me with the most excellent climate and I would love for the wife and kids to pack up all of our stuff and move there ourselves. But it doesn’t look like that will happen, any time soon anyway. The youngest still has 6 more years of school to finish before we even think about taking off somewhere, but believe me we are planning on doing just that, but are still tossing around some locations and haven’t agreed on any particular spot, as of yet, but  San Diego is on the list.

Time to Improve…again!

With the wife being on her annual, “spruce up the joint”, summer cleanup, I’ve been pressed to find items to either replace the old or add to the existing. We started with the shutters, and due to my exquisite taste in architectural items, she has now decided its time to add some marble columns to the front porch and the entrance gates at the driveway. Luckily for me I knew of this website called “Marble Unique”, from a friend who’d just put in a new garden fountain.  After finding the site I was pleasantly surprised at not only the diversity of marble and stone creations, but by the high quality of the craftsmanship as well!  With such an extensive online catalog of everything from columns and fireplaces to beautiful statues and busts as well as garden accessories like benches and gazebos even. The prices are not only fair, but I believe I’d be rather hard pressed to fins a better deal anywhere. The wife is going to love it, so much so, I may be redoing the fishpond with a few additions as well. Not only do they carry such a wide selection of marble and stone items, but they can custom make any item they have to the size you need, including life size or even larger as well as your choice of available colors in stone or marble. Quality at an affordable price. The Internet sure does make my life easier at times.

Speaking of castles

We actually just missed the chance of purchasing a small castle in Berkeley Springs, W.V. that went on the market just a few months after finalizing the sale on our house that we live in now. We didn’t even know that castle was going up for sale and were shocked to see the small amount of money that it went for at auction. To think that we missed such an opportunity stills pisses the wife and I off when we think about it. Even the kids were upset about it when they found out about it by hearing us speaking of it and they still bring it up every once in a while.
