That Time of Year…Again!

Came to realize today, after feeble attempts to ignore the obvious of course, that my house is in need of a fresh look, so to speak. Bathroom downstairs needs a change. I been thinking about a total overhaul, put in a high-rise toilet, pedestal sink, add a couple cabinets maybe with a double sink instead of a pedestal. Never know till I get started though. One thing is for sure is that I fully intend to take out the old tub and put in one of those walk-in shower/massage tub units. Could even open up the closet and put in cabinets instead., And fresh paint job of course, maybe even hard tile the floor.

Now in the kitchen, which will actually be the beginning of the house “overhaul”, as I’m tending to refer to it as, I’ll put in a long awaited laundry chute to the basement laundry room. That will in turn give me the excuse to change all the doors and drawers to the cabinets, new hardware and the like. And what my significant other refers to as “the thing she can’t stand to have people see”, the kitchen floor! Don’t look all that bad to me except for the ragged edges at the doorway of course. Then there is the matter of the back and side doors. Not to mention the outer screen doors, windows…paint…garage…yard…oh my! I’ve got a lot of home ownership duties to perform! Lots to get done alright. Looks like I won’t be doing a whole lot of fishin’ this year, and it looks like it’ll cut into a bit of ridin’ time too. But that part is okay cause it just gives me the excuse to ride at night..less traffic, clear skies gives a man a sense of comfort in life, ya know…Well I digress, now where did I leave that roto-tiller…?

Spring…

It’s almost time to get out the rototiller and plow up the garden! I’d have already started except for the lingering cold weather and high winds that keep blowing everything in my yard around everything else in my yard! Place is a mess and I’m not exactly looking forward to cleaning it up, what with all the leaves and twigs and sticks that need to get picked up and tossed into the trailer for the trip to the local dump along with other bits of unusable yard waste and the like. I do like gardening though, as much of a grump I am about it, I do so enjoy the benefits of growing one’s own veggies! Won’t be too long before I get it under control again I’m sure. Just making the first move that bugs me I guess. Mainly because once I start I have a tendency not to want to stop until I’ve completed whatever it is I’ve begun. The problem there lies in the matter that it is usually a two or three day job I’m trying to get done in a day. Oh well, I’ll just do it as it comes along. My plan is to cut back a bit on tomatos and try an increases bean production along with extending the melon patch. Probably just a couple of pepper plants this year and I may plant a couple more fruit trees as so far the only ones making a go of it are one golden delicious apple tree and of course the chestnut tree, My pear and plum and peach trees all succumbed to slugs and bad weather, the strawberries are holding their own though despite the slugs. Now that I’ve been thinking about it I have a sudden urge for fresh fruit along with some cottage cheese…hmmm, sounds good, gotta go!

I’ve got way too many cats running around here! Lets see now, in the neutered male division we have a large red, (from whence he got his name, “Red”), and a rather large and imposing solid black, who goes by the name of “Rocky”. In the spayed female ranks we have “Wild Thing”, sometimes referred to as “Momma Cat”, and a big fluffy grey we call “Jayda”. Newest of the bunch is a small striped grey that looks a lot like ”Wild Thing”, in coloring, yet to be spayed. They all eat way too much and to top it all off they are all save the kitten bigger than my dog, a small female purebred shizu. The dog is nuttier then a fruitcake and twice as dumb! But ya gotta love her, she’s just so durn cute! Anyways, I keep telling the girls they just gotta stop bringing home critters that just eat and crap and lay around…heck, that’s my job!

What the..?

Barack Hussein Obama on vacation in the islands, I’m guessing he doesn’t cotton to mainland vacation spots to spend his money, he’d rather go abroad. Hilary looks to be defending past comments of her trips abroad. Seems she “overstated the facts” a bit. Meanwhile McCain goes to see for himself the progress in the war against terrorism, he apparently wants that firsthand knowledge of the real truth of that which he’ll defend against the liberal democratic party who are sure to try and use the war on terrorism against him in the run for the Presidency. Who’d be best for America? Weigh the realitys and make sure your scale is not tipped with predjudice. I don’t think the USA can stand anymore nonsense like the “anybody but Bush” crapola the liberals feed upon. Vote American, vote McCain!

The world is looking for history to be made this election year! Will there be a first? A woman President? Perhaps a black President? Personally I’m hoping common sense and a dose of reality sets the tune for this election and McCain wins over the masses.  Hilary Clinton is a qualified individual to serve, but not in these volatile times. Obama may indeed be qualified, but lets face the facts here, “Barack Hussein Obama” is not exactly the name one wants to hear of the President of the free christian world leading the war against muslim extremists bent on destroying anything not muslim! And there is not a single muslim nation that takes women seriously either! John McCain on the other hand, has been on the front lines of war. He knows what is needed and knows what will work and is intelligent enough to know that unpopular decisions, harsh but necessary decisions, may have to be made. Only McCain would make those decisions without regard to what it might do to any re-election hopes he may or may not have. Bush knew this and history will reveal that Bush will probably go down as the most unpopular President even though his decisions were indeed the correct ones.
