Mortality

Finally plowed the garden. Loaded the trailer with yard trash with hopes to make a dump run soon and even started in on the rear shed. Of course now it looks to rain for the next couple of days, so I’m not too sure just how much I’ll be able to get accomplished before the weekend rolls around.

Been thinking about family a lot these last few days or so. Not sure why, maybe it’s because I don’t expect my folks to live all that much longer seeing as how my mother is in poor health and 84 years of age and my father is in his 80’s and not such a hard-ass as he used to be. Age wrecks havoc on a soldier, more-so than it would affect the average citizen. Been feeling my own mortality of late. Old friends now gone beyond, those few still around in poor health, myself included. Makes a man wonder sometimes if his life actually made that much of a difference in the world! I know my life had/has meaning of course. But still, would not have another filled the void were I not the one there to make the difference? These things I do not know for sure. But I do know that I have loved and been loved and am loved deeper and with more passion and commitment than most men will ever so much as consider. I have shared the lives of the worlds most wonderful women. And I will always love them, each and every one. One can only hope that those who have shared chapters of my life, remember the good times above all else.
